About Us

The Decision Support Laboratory (DSL) is co-founded by Dr. Seung Hwan Kang and Thoranin Intarajak in the Faculty of Science at Payap University early April 2008. It began with keeping track of their current and past research, and staying motivated for doing research. The initial public submission took place on 20th June 2008 when the DSL research group project proposal was submitted to Dr. Pisamai Kijkuokool (Dean). Eventually, the proposal was approved by Assistant Professor Pradit Takerngrangsarit (President) with minor conditions. Assistant Professor Sompan Wongdee (Vice President) and Dr. Pisamai Kijkuokool assured the confirmation on 15th July 2008. All remaining conditions were met regarding the official policies by November 2009.

The DSL has a group of academics and research students drawn from inter-disciplinary areas of the department of Computer Information Systems (CIS), the department of Computer Science (CS), the department of Software Engineering (SE), and the Faculty of Science at Payap University. Thus the DSL accentuates strongly on collaborations and supports for doing research.

We believe that the DSL plays a very important role in holding valuable knowledge for research communities obtained. We have been bringing in new research knowledge then disseminating among our researchers. We also bring together academics, students, and other invited guests for discussions and networking.

The DSL Logo and its Meaning

We are all faced with making decisions everyday; many of us wonder or hesitate to make decisions. But the most important step in making a good decision is the act of making a decision. There are always several options to choose when we are making a decision. Some look closely at all of their options. Some will simply discard an option. Some doubt or criticize decisions they are committed to. This often results in frustration. When we list all of our options, we are starting to sort out few options subconsciously. Then we can priorities our choices logically or emotionally. Most of the important thing is to keep moving toward our final decision. In this way we may feel better about ourselves because we know that we are one step closed to the final decision. For above processes, we believe in better ways to make a decision by utilizing creative thinking techniques and skills. That is what our DSL logo means.
